EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AND COMMUNICATIONS HEAD/EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT APPOINTED

Bonaventure, October 27th, 2009 – The board of directors of the regional literary event BookFest is pleased to announce the appointment of Philippe Garon as Executive Director, and of Yolande Fortin as Communications Head and Executive Assistant.
Having worked in the cultural and educational development fields for the past five years, Philippe Garon has acquired much solid experience in regional collaboration and in event production. He has a degree in teaching French from Laval University, and has strong communications skills. He is already fully familiar with BookFest, having worked on the event from the very beginning. He loves books, and spends part of his free time writing. “I hope to play a mobilizing role in order to consolidate and develop this magnificent event”, he stated after being appointed.
Yolande Fortin is a well-known artist who has been involved for over thirty years in the cultural development of her home area. Her varied professional experience has given her an excellent knowledge of the region and its media, as well as great promotional skills. Her efficiency, resourcefulness, and organizational ability will be very valuable to BookFest. As an assiduous reader, she will be sure to share her enthusiasm for books with people on the Gaspé Peninsula and the Magdalen Islands.
The literary event BookFest will be celebrating its fifth anniversary this year, and will take place all over the region from April 18th to April 25th, 2010. Last year, the 558 activities organized in 52 localities attracted over 33,000 participants.
